make do and mend

with all the money problems in the world, ive been making do and mending for a while. i think because i grew up around parents that encouraged this behaviour, its become easy for me. for instance, i wanted a bedside cabinet. and i didnt want fake wood, mdf covered in vinyl, or what it is they cover it in. real wood was far to expensive at the time, ( ten or more years ago) for me to afford. so i got a couple of champagne boxes, shoved some books in , and here it is years later.
thank goodness, i have all my christmas presents. thanks to my mum, and the internet. i now just need to wrap them.

hi alice, it's a lovely bedside cabinet. and it was free! i'd like to make such things. some of my friends do something called 'dumpster diving' where they go through garbage bins to find things. it sounds disgusting, but they've found some pretty nice things that way. especially when the college students are graduating, they tend to leave a lot of nice stuff near the garbage bins. and these dumpster divers are well-off, not poor.
